Eastern Samar Gov. RV Evardone has assured three families who lost their homes in a fire in Llorente, Eastern Samar that the provincial government will provide financial assistance and construction materials to help them rebuild.
Evardone personally visited the affected families in Barangay Canliwag on August 26, a week after fire destroyed their three houses.
The governor checked on the families and initially provided relief goods following the August 19 fire.
He also assured them that the provincial government would provide additional financial assistance and construction materials for the rebuilding of their homes.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Llorente Fire Station said the fire quickly spread because light materials were used in the construction of the houses. The families were unable to save their belongings.
Among those affected was the family of Evangeline Garcia Añes, which lost household appliances, electronic devices and P32,000 in cash. Important documents, including barangay records kept by her husband, incumbent barangay treasurer Gonzalo Quiza Añes, were also destroyed.
Their losses were estimated at around P300,000.
The family of Lorna Baula Añes suffered an estimated P200,000 in damage, losing appliances, household items and P5,000 in cash.
Another family, that of Estela Encio Boco, also reported around P200,000 in losses after their appliances, furniture, household items and P15,000 in cash were destroyed.
Evardone’s visit came as the families began dealing with the task of rebuilding their homes after the fire.
