Iloilo City sets aside P25M for solar power

The Iloilo City government has earmarked P25 million for solar power systems in city government offices as part of efforts to keep public services running during disasters and energy problems.

Mayor Raisa Treñas made the announcement as she welcomed participants to the Huawei Digital Power Iloilo Summit 2026 held in the city.

“Sa Iloilo City, nagapadayon kita sa pagtukod sang isa ka syudad nga innovative, sustainable, kag resilient,” Treñas said in a Facebook post.

She said the solar power systems are meant to help ensure that government services will continue even during disasters and energy crises.

“That is why we have earmarked P25 million for solar power systems across our City Government offices to help ensure that government services continue even during disasters and energy crises, because service for the people should not stop when there is a crisis,” the mayor said.

Treñas also said the city is working to attract investors while promoting clean energy, resilient infrastructure and technology that can benefit residents.

“For me, the best technology is not simply the most advanced—it is the technology that creates opportunities, improves lives, and leaves a better future for the next generation,” she said.

She thanked Huawei Philippines and other government and business representatives for supporting the city’s efforts toward a “smarter, greener, and more sustainable future.”
